LIFE LEAPS HERE

Why Are Doulas Important?

45% Reduction in C-Sections: Research on continuous labor support shows that continuous care specifically provided by a doula reduces the likelihood of a cesarean birth by roughly 45%.

Increased VBAC Success Rates: Studies published in major OB-GYN journals show that doula support significantly increases the rate of successful Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).

35% Reduction in Pain Medication: Continuous doula care is associated with a 35% decrease in the overall use of any pain medication during labor.

Higher Exclusive Breastfeeding Rates: Mothers who receive doula care show higher rates of initiating and maintaining exclusive breastfeeding through the early postpartum months.

57.5% Lower Odds of Postpartum Depression & Anxiety: Research links prenatal and postpartum doula care to a major reduction in the development of postpartum depression (PPD) and anxiety (PPA).

Meet Your Doula

Hi there! I’m located in the greater Houston area but originally from Boston, Massachusetts! I’m a mama of 2 beautiful girls and a wife to an amazing husband. Here are some fun facts about me…

I am an avid crochet artist! I picked up the hobby after the birth of my second baby (pictured above) while I was struggling to feel like myself again. At the moment you’re reading this,  I probably have about 25 works in progress… but I always love a new project!

My first baby is the reason I truly fell in love with birth work (pictured above). She was our rainbow baby, and we learned at 2 months old that she had a heart defect that could prevent her from being able to get an epidural one day. This caused me to do tons of research into natural comfort measures during labor and delivery, which ultimately led me to becoming a doula.

My husband and I are childhood sweethearts! We were friends for 10 years before we got together in 2020, and we have now been married almost 5 years. Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…” perfectly describes this wonderful man that I’ve chosen to do life with.

About Me

Hi, friend! I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is McKenzie. While my official title is Birth and Postpartum Doula, I like to think of myself as a “villager” in your village. As people, we thrive in community, but as mamas? We flourish when supported by other women.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” ~Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

A little about me: I grew up absolutely fascinated by how the female body works. My mom had my youngest brother when I was 3 years old, and at the time TLC was still airing shows like “A Baby Story” and “Bringing Home Baby.” Needless to say, I wasn’t as interested in morning cartoons as I was in watching moms give birth and bring their babies home. This foundation shaped the way I thought about motherhood and how families were formed. Once I hit middle school, my interest piqued about the inner workings of the female body after I attended my first sex education class. I began sounding a lot like my now 2-year-old and asking “Why?”

After spending years researching how intricate our bodies really are, and going through fertility issues myself, I learned how God’s design is truly remarkable. I knew then and there that more women needed this information about their bodies and how their babies were formed in their womb.

My motto “Life Leaps Here” is about so much more than the leap into motherhood. It’s about the first person we believe was filled with the Holy Spirit, John the Baptist, while still being formed in Elizabeth’s womb. The mere presence of Jesus, who was not yet born, caused him to leap for joy!

I’d love to hear your story and learn how I can best support your family during this season. Schedule your free consultation and let’s chat over a cup of coffee. Congratulations, mama!
